William Eugene Winders, age 83, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021, in West Point, MS. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Hamilton under the direction of Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home.
A native of Hamilton, MS, he was an electronic technician for Sears and Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS. He retired as a Staff Sergeant from the Mississippi National Guard. He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church but also attended Center Hill Baptist Church in Hamilton. He was a member of The Sons of Confederacy and enjoyed traveling to historic battlefields. He enjoyed camping in the Great Smoky Mountains and riding his four-wheeler.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Bryant and Vivian Collins Winders; and his sister Lenoel Evans. Survivors include his children: Linda (Brad) Peters of Oxford, MS; Jimmy (Cindy) Winders of Aberdeen, MS; Sandy (Bragg) Sherrer of Picayune, MS; Jason (Robyn) Winders of Ocean Springs, MS; his sister, Linda Johncox of Smithville, MS; eight grandchildren; one great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren: Chelsea Peters, Ryan Sherrer, Taylor Peters, JT Winders, Meagan Sherrer, Parker Winders, Lera Winders, Preston Winders and Asher Winders. His nephews: David Evans and Allen Evans.
