Tony Lane "Uma" Westbrook

Tony Lane “Uma” Westbrook, 64, passed away  Friday, February 25, 2022 at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville surrounded by her family.  She was born April 19, 1957 in Aberdeen and grew up in Monroe County, attending Hatley School.  On March 20, 1981, Tony married Wendell Westbrook.  Together they made their home in Westville where she lived until her death.  She and Wendell had a love that grew stronger and deeper each day in Christ due to their unwavering devotion to God and each other.  She was a longtime member of Hamilton Church of Christ.  Tony was a teacher’s assistant for several years at Greenwood Springs School until it closed and she then transferred to Hamilton School until her retirement.  She adored her daughters and truly exemplified a mother’s love.  As time went on, she became Uma to her grandchildren.  She enjoyed shopping, the movies and family trips. Above all, she was the best wife, mom and Uma anyone could ask for.  

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Wendell Westbrook; daughters, Wandava Gentry (Todd), Westville and Carla Westbrook (Michael), Westville; grandchildren, Carson Westbrook and Daleigh Gentry; mother, Juanita Adkins, Hatley; sister, Sandi Smith, Hatley; a host of nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her mother and father in law, who loved her as their own, Charles and Lorene Westbrook; step father, Ray Adkins and a sister, Donna Adkins. 

Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Tisdale Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen with Ministers Tim Wilson and Evan Bolen officiating.  Burial will follow in Hatley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Todd Gentry, Michael Westbrook, Carson Westbrook, James Nevins, Evan Bolen and Tim Wilson. 

Visitation will be Monday evening at the funeral home from 5-7PM.
