Hazel Gay Peters, more known as “Mrs. Sue,” 84, passed away early Wednesday morning at North Mississippi Medical Center—Gilmore in Amory. Born on November 26, 1938 in Greenwood Springs, she was a daughter of Eron and Betty Gann West. She married John Ray Peters on December 16, 1957 who preceded her in death. Mrs. Sue worked in retail management most of her lifetime and was known near and far. A people person, she impacted everyone who met her in a good way and would be willing to give her last dollar to whomever was in need. Apart from being a retail professional, she was also a devoted homemaker who worked fiercely to take care of her family and took great pride in the legacy of her grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and loved the outdoors. Her hobbies included playing Bingo, word search puzzles, and she was a fan of all spectator sports. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen with Bro. Lynn Pigford officiating. Burial will follow in the Center Hill Cemetery.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Peters (Terrie) of Mooreville, Mike Peters (Cheri) of Amory; one daughter, Terri Allen (Douglas) of Sulligent; grandchildren, Shanda Stuckey (Nick), Steve Allen, John Peters, Missy Peters, Molly Peters, Justin Peters, Ty Peters, Cori Peters, Kit Thorn, RayAnn Peters, and Molly Roberson (Julius); great grandchildren, Lainey Rhae Stuckey, Oaklee Rose Stuckey, Cosmo Nolan Peters, Noah Glassey, Jackson Glassey, Lucy Roberson, and Henry Roberson; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Che Che Collins, Janice and Buzzy Cullum, and the staff and residents of Oak Tree Manor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ray Peters; her parents; brothers, Leroy, Junior, Bill, and Donnie West; and sisters, Frances Stanford, Mae Moeller, and Patsy Lundquist.
Pallbearers will be Steve Allen, John Peters, Justin Peters, Ty Peters, Nick Stuckey, Jeff Stanford, Rexall Peters, and Lynn West.
Visitation will be on Friday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
