Shirley Howell Pruett was born January 18, 1937, to Mancel Gregory Howell and Ellie Hill Howell. She died Thursday, March 28, 2019, at the Monroe Regional Hospital in Aberdeen. She was a graduate of Aberdeen High School where she was elected Football Queen and “Miss AHS”. She also graduated from the Memphis School of Commerce. Ms. Pruett married her school sweetheart and the love of her life (Billy Wayne Pruett) in 1955 and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage. To this union were born Brenda Elise (Peachi) Pruett Patrick (David) of Somerville, TN, Debra Kay Pruett Earnest (Lewis) of Aberdeen and Gregory Clinton Pruett of Luray, KS. She leaves six grandchildren, Brandon Bowen (Maren), Kristopher Bowen, Chase Pruett, Austin Earnest (Taylor), Emily Sanderson (Turner), Ethan Earnest (Addie), and one step-grandchild, Dustin Goodwin. She also leaves three great-grandchildren. She now joins in heaven her husband Billy, a great-grandson, Pruett Bowen and a sister Martha Howell Bell. She began her employment as church secretary at First Baptist Church, Aberdeen MS in 1968 where she thoroughly enjoyed a 38-year career. She genuinely loved people but had a special place in her heart just for children. As a testament to that, she loved teaching her 4 and 5-year-old Sunday School class and did so for 54 years.
