Rosemary Coggin

Rosemary Morgan Coggin, 77, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice in Tupelo.  She was born in Monroe County on June 9, 1946 to Norbin “Goose” and Dorothy Wolforth Morgan.  She was a 1963 graduate of Smithville High School and in her early years, she was a homemaker and teacher’s assistant and later worked as an executive assistant with Loral Electro-Optical Systems in Pamona, CA.  Most of all, she was known for her love of makeup and fashion and prior to her retirement, she worked as an Erno Lazlo cosmetic specialist at McRae’s in Jackson. She moved back to Smithville and served as a caregiver to her parents.  She was a member of Nettleton Presbyterian Church. 

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton with Bro. Jack Inmon and Bro. John Raper officiating.  Private family burial will be in the New Chapel Cemetery.

She is survived by one daughter, Maria Bynum (Jason) of Nettleton; two sons, James Coggin (Jan) of Wren and Chris Coggin (Lynn) of Gattman; 5 grandchildren, Clay Coggin (Ashley), Trey Oliver, Jackson Bynum all of Nettleton, Morgan Allen (Will) of Wren, and Harleigh Bynum of Aberdeen; 6 great grandchildren; one sister, Dottie Sobott (John) of Federal Heights, CO; 4 brothers, Norm Morgan of Oklahoma City, OK, Randy Morgan (Dorothy) of Fischer, TX, Gary Morgan (Tracy) of Tupelo, MS, and Curtis Morgan of Smithville; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and the staff of Magnolia Manor Assisted Living.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Amy Oliver; and the father of her children, Jimmy Coggin.  

Visitation will be on Thursday beginning at noon and continuing until the service hour.
