Robert C. "Bob" Jessup

Robert “Bob” C. Jessup passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 23, 2023 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Linda Jessup of Aberdeen, and his children Kathy Scinto of Tipp City, OH, Jim and Ginny Jessup of Aberdeen, and Karen and Mike White of Canon City, CO. He is also survived by his grandchildren Lindsey Jessup of Gilmer, TX, Jon Jessup of Spring Branch, TX, Zachary and Carly Scinto of Tipp City, OH and his great-grandson Jase “JJ” Jessup of Spring Branch, TX. Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Jessup, his father and mother Charlie and Allimae Jessup and his sister Dorothy Ozan.

Bob was born in Lake Charles, LA September 13, 1930 and grew up in Jeanerette, LA. He attended McNeese State for 2 years before enlisting in the Air Force. He became a fighter pilot and served in Vietnam training South Vietnamese Air Force pilots. Throughout his 28 ½ year career, Bob rose to the rank of colonel. He and his family were stationed at various bases in the U.S. and France. He retired in 1979 from his last assignment at Columbus Air Force Base where he was the Deputy Chief of Maintenance for 4 years.

During his lifetime, Bob enjoyed golf, woodworking, hunting, traveling and attending Tampa Bay Buccaneer football games. As a member of Riverbend Baptist Church, Bob’s passion for the Lord and helping others equipped him to go on various mission trips to Honduras, OK, KY and LA where he helped build churches and restored homes. Something that we will always remember about our dad is his generosity, big heart, storytelling and his sense of humor. No one could tell a story like Bob, and there were many. He generally included accents and colorful language. His priorities were faith, family and country. Bob is greatly loved and will be dearly missed by all those whose life he touched.

Services will be at 10:00 A. M., Friday, September 29, 2023 in the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with Bro. Mark Robbins and Bro. Roy McHenry officiating.  Burial will be at 1:00 p.m., in Corinth National Cemetery in Corinth, MS.

Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p. m., Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen.

Pallbearers are Jon Jessup, Zak Scinto, Willie Malone, Tony Provias, Bill Hampton, Randy Motes.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Riverbend Baptist Church at 50361 Old Hwy 25, Aberdeen, MS  39730, designated to their missions programs.
