Rhoda Fay Smith

Rhoda Fay Newman Smith, age 81, died Monday, July 28, 2021 at her residence in Hamilton. She was born November 1, 1939 to Floyd Newman and Rhoda Bell Linley Newman in Aberdeen. She was of the Baptist Faith. She worked as a seamstress in the garment industry and as a homemaker. She loved gardening and tending to her flowers. She had a green thumb and could get anything to grow. She loved to sew clothes, especially for kids and baby dolls. She used to begin her day drinking coffee on the porch watching birds and squirrels. She especially enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 4, 2021 in the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with Rev. Melvin Mordecai officiating. Burial will be in Egger Cemetery.
Survivors include three sons, James Michael “Mike” Smith of Hamilton, MS, Danny L. Smith of Weir, MS, and Gary L. Smith of Houston, MS; two daughters, Debra Lawrence of Hamilton, MS and Pam Buford of Eupora, MS; one sister, Selma Gilmore of Columbus, MS; ten grandchildren, Wesley Lawrence, Bruce Smith, Ciara Lawrence, Nick Butters, Kayla Butters, Summer Smith, Caleb Smith, Cassidy Smith, Amber Smith, and Cameron Smith; eight great grandchildren; and her hospice team friends that she loved dearly.
Preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Alphus Newman, Leonard Newman, Louis Newman, and James Newman.
Pallbearers are Caleb Smith, Cassidy Smith, Cameron Smith, Bruce Smith, Justin Grant, and Noel Quintanilla.
Honorary Pallbearers are Wesley Lawrence, Clayton Smith, and Jason Barham.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 3, 2021 and from 10:00 until service time, Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen.
