Quitman "Dub" Harlow

Quitman “Dub” Harlow, 95, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.  He was born February 20, 1927 on the family farm in Wren to the late Richard Calvin Harlow Sr. and Fannie May Cunningham Harlow.  Dub was a graduate of Wren High School.  He Honorably served in the United States Army, receiving the Army Occupation Medal for serving in Germany.  On February 25, 1962 he married Jerry Anderson.  Dub had a longtime career at the Columbus Airforce Base in Civil Service.  Being the unofficial Mayor of Wren Bottom, Dub had many friends and fond memories during his lifetime.  He enjoyed cooking fish and stew with his buddies and taking daily trips to the homeplace in Wren.   He also enjoyed gardening, mowing and keeping his yard tended to.  More than anything he enjoyed time spent with family.  He attended both Tranquil United Methodist Church and Grady’s Chapel United Methodist Church during his lifetime.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 61 years, Jerry Anderson Harlow, Aberdeen; son Ben Harlow (Becky Brabham) of Muldon; a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Etoil Harlow Williams, Lottie Bell Harlow Pearson, Berniece Harlow and June Francis Harlow Thompson; brothers, J.T. Harlow, Sherman Harlow, Richard Harlow, Jr., Ralph V. Harlow, Henley C. Harlow and Herbert M. Harlow.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Tisdale Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen with The Reverend Mary Howard King officiating.  Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Ausborn, Steve Galloway, Terry Garner, Fred Miller, Jeffrey Pearson, Michael Wayne Pearson and Charlie Stokes.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Richard Harlow, Richard Newman Harlow and Gene Lilly.

Visitation will be prior to the service of Friday from 1 PM until 1:45 PM.
