Paula Spruill

Paula Leigh Pate Spruill, 57, passed away at her residence on Sunday, March 30, 2025.  She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 6, 1968 to Bennie and Evelyn O'Dell Pate.  Paula attended Aberdeen School and was a graduate of Tupelo High School.  She went on to ICC to earn a business degree.  Paula retired from the Aberdeen School District of over 25 years as a special needs assistant teacher.  Her career was very rewarding to her and she loved her students dearly.  Paula married Jerry Spruill in 2002.  Unable to have children of her own, she loved Jerry's children as her own.  She made sure that each child felt cared for and special.  Her greatest joy was to be their mom.  Paula and Jerry had a special bond and were a truly happily married couple.  Jerry was her rock, great family man and provider.  For the last year, Paula's life was made perfect by the birth of her first and only grandchild, Remington.  In 2020 their greatest trial came as Paula was diagnosed with breast cancer.  She was glad to have him by her side for the next 5 years that they fought cancer together.  Paul loved her friends and would often describe herself as hard headed and sometimes even a little stubborn, always refusing to settle for less.  She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Aberdeen.

Paula is survived by her husband, Jerry Spruill, Hamilton; mother Evelyn White of Fayette, MO; children, Jesse Spruill (Erin), Nettleton, Kenneth Spruill (Karisa), Hamilton and Rebecca McGinty (Jerald), Hamilton; sister, Rachel Curvin (Dan) of Pine Bluff, AR; brothers, Dennis White and Scott White both of Arnold, MO; granddaughter, Remington Grace Spruill; a host of nieces and nephews; special friend, Astria Parks.

Paula is preceded in death by her father, Bennie Pate and stepmother, Lela Ann Pate.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Tisdale Lann Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Clardy officiating.  Visitation will be prior to the service on Saturday from 11 AM until the service hour at 1 PM.
