Patsy Ruth Craft Johnston, 91, passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at her daughter’s residence in Columbus. She was born on February 6, 1928, in Ellisville to Lyman Rupert and Ruth Knowles Craft. She had lived most all of her life in Nettleton, but had resided in Columbus for the past five years, was a graduate of Nettleton High School, and was a member of the Nettleton United Methodist Church, where she was a charter member of the Women’s Wesleyan Methodist Guild. Patsy was an accomplished seamstress and kept her girls dressed in style. She really enjoyed gardening and was happiest when she was in her flower beds or with her grandchildren. Survivors include three daughters, Lynda Payne and Janey Aiena (Lloyd), all of Columbus, & Sharyn Knight (Douglas) of Nettleton; four sisters, Jo Craft, Agnes Dillan, Judith Hester, and Wanda Wood; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Hortis Johnston; her parents; one sister, Carole Lee; one brother, Conrad Craft, one son-in-law, Ben Payne, & one granddaughter, Carole Lynn Payne.
