Patrick Worthey, 66, passed away at his residence in Canton, TX on August 14, 2024. He was born in Rockford, IL on December 23, 1957 to the late Clarence and Billie Ann Ward Worthey. Patrick attended Hamilton High School and later enlisted into the US Navy, sailing on several deployments from Norfolk. VA and Pensacola, FL. He lived for several years in Columbus before venturing to Texas to work in the oil and gas industry. While in Texas, he met and married the love of his life, Brenda Kay Guy on April 25, 1987. Patrick had a mind that was always eager to learn. He enjoyed all types of literature, writing short stories and novels, fishing, hunting and taxidermy work. Extremely creative in engineering, he could build or whittle anything, making several carvings and even building buckboard wagons to pull with his horses. More than anything, he adored his family, looked at his father as his hero and took great pride in showing his children love by teaching them many things throughout life. He was passionately involved in the lives of his grandchildren as well.
Patrick is survived by his wife, Brenda Guy Worthey, Canton, TX; children, Nathaniel Chad Worthey, Ashley Worthey Stuart (Whit), Oxford, Joshua Adam Worthey (Krissy), Granbury, TX, Shelbie Marie Worthey, Canton, TX, Elizabeth Ann Worthey (Robert) Austin, TX; sisters, Annette Worthey, Hamilton, Dee Di-Anna Pounders Sellers (Lonnie), Milton, FL; twin brother, Mark Anthony Worthey (Rhonda), McKinney, TX; grandchildren, LCpl Tristan James Norris, USMC, Elisha Corey Perrigin, Jasper Dean Worthey, Jaxon Ryder Worthey, Oliver William Worthey, Emma Paige Worthey, Cody James Worthey, Zoey Quinn Worthey, Alexander Jaiden Worthey; aunts and uncles, Emma Gates (Greg), Carlene Poindexter, Mary Pepper; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Patrick is preceded in death by his nephews, Cade McClaren Worthey and Marcus Anthony Worthey.
Funeral services will be held at Center Hill Baptist Church in Hamilton at 2 PM on Saturday, August 24, 2024 with Bro. Michael Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Garden In Aberdeen. Pallbearers will be Joshua Worthey, Elisha Perrigin, Corey Perrigin, Robbie Bennett, Jeffrey Hamlin, Kyle Worthey and Mark Worthey. LCpl Tristan James Norris USMC 3rd Battalion 2nd Marine will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Visitation will be prior to the service on Saturday at the church from noon until the service hour at 2 PM.
Eldest daughter, Ashley has also suggested to add that for any people who would prefer an alternative to sending flowers, she would request that a donation be made to the Disabled Veterans of America Foundation in Patrick's name.
