Raymond O’Neal “Cookie” Lochridge, 77, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born on July 10, 1946 in Monroe County to Raymond G. and Eloise Motes Lochridge. O’Neal graduated from Hamilton High School and, shortly after, enlisted in the U.S. Army. He honorably served in Vietnam and upon his return home, he joined the National Guard from which he retired after 24 years. He married the former Linda Clark on November 19, 1970. In addition, he was a truck driver for Bryan Brothers Foods, retiring from there after 30 years of service. His hobbies included gardening and trading. He enjoyed listening to gospel and bluegrass music and he was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Boston Celtics during the Larry Bird era. He was a member of the Westville Church of Christ.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery on Old Hamilton Road. Minister Evan Bolen will officiate. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
In addition to his wife of 53 years, Linda Lochridge, he is survived by two sons, Stephen Lochridge (Lisa) of Nettleton and Brian Lochridge (Shauna) of Fulton; his brothers, Truman Lochridge (Kathleen), Johnny Lochridge (Linda), and Rick Lochridge (Tammy); 4 grandchildren, Nathaniel Lochridge, Kayle Lochridge, Joshua Lochridge, and Autumn Lochridge; step-grandson, Chris Chambers (Delta); and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Janet Lochridge, Sue Allred, Maxine Coleman, and Mary Duncan; and brothers, Jim Lochridge and Billy Lochridge.
Pallbearers will be Brian Lochridge, Stephen Lochridge, Leslie Kissel, Evan Bolen, Joshua Lochridge, and Allen Wayne Taylor. Honorary pallbearer will be Michael Lochridge.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
