Odene Gilmore

Odene Thomas Gilmore, 74, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at his residence in Aberdeen. He was born in Monroe County on October 15, 1946 to the late Murray and Effie Mae Mays Gilmore. Odene attended Greenwood Springs School and worked as a maintenance man in the area manufacturing industry. He was an extremely talented man, never meeting a mechanical issue he couldn't fix. He was a kind and gentle soul who would give the shirt from his back to anyone in need. He enjoyed his grandchildren and the neighborhood children that he thought of as his grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Marie Harrington, Aberdeen; son, Matthew Gilmore (Ellane), Sulligent; grandchildren, John Thomas Gilmore, Payton Gilmore, Daniel Harrington and Nathan Harrington; special friend, Stella Dobbs; others he loved as grands, Amber Hoskins, Khamaria Hoskins, Javarius Dobbs, Kameron Hoskins, Kadence Hoskins, Devante Johnson, Marquita Dobbs and Sarvantiz Hoskins; a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Reynolds and Irene Tate; brother, Early Wayne "Pat" Gilmore.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Tisdale Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen with Bro. Matthew Gilmore officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Thomas Gilmore, Nathan Harrington, Daniel Harrington, Devante Johnson, Wayne Hood, Reggie Jones and Darnell Dobbs.

Visitation will be prior to the service on Thursday from 1 PM until 1:45 PM.
