Carl O’Neal Thompson, 77, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at his home in Hamilton. Born on September 8, 1947 in Greenville, AL, he was the only son of Carl V. and Loretta Baughn Thompson, and he married the former Linda Franks on July 2, 1965. He worked as roadmaster for Frisco/BNSF Railroad and had retired from JESCO at Cooper Tire. Neal would help anyone in need, and he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed by many. His hobbies included drag racing and riding motorcycles.
Private family services will be Monday, April 21, 2025. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home of Aberdeen has been entrusted with the arrangements.
In addition to his wife of just shy of 60 years, Linda Thompson; two sons, David Thompson (Regina), Hamilton and Greg Thompson, Daphne, AL; one sister, Nellie Phillips, Amory; grandchildren, Brooke Thompson, Chelsea Tucker, Drake Thompson, Caleb Thompson, Hayley Thompson, and Paige Thompson; great grandchildren, Walker, Gracie, Waylon, Anna, D.J., and Sofie; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Martha ‘Mot’ Benson.
