Mickey Mize

Mickey L. Mize, 69, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at his home in Hamilton. Born on July 20, 1955 in West Palm Beach, FL, he was a son to Herbert Mize and Martha Stewart Carden. Growing up in multiple places as his father was in the Air Force, they were finally able to move back to the family farm in Hamilton where he was proudly the fifth generation. He was a graduate of Hamilton High School, and he earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Mississippi State University. He married the former Linda Temple and prior to his retirement, he worked as a contracted project manager at the Tronox plant in Hamilton. An avid deer hunter, he also participated in competitive skeet shooting and was excited to see it as an Olympic event this year. 

 A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen with Bro. Joe Nettles officiating. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. 

 In addition to his wife of nearly 48 years, Linda Mize, he is survived by his daughter, Allison Mize of Picayune, MS; his mother, Martha Carden of Columbus; brother, Gary Mize (Mitchell Holmes) of Ft. Worth, TX; and many great friends. 

 He was preceded in death by his father; and by one daughter, Amanda Mize.

 Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:50 for the service at 10 a.m.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN.
