Nettleton- Clifton Melvin Malone, 77, entered rest on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at the NMMC-Tupelo Hospice. He was born on April 2, 1947 at the Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi to Alpheus Clifton "AC" and Ruth Monaghan Malone. He was a member of the Nettleton Community Church. He presently resided in the Palmetto Community but had lived in Nettleton for many years. He graduated from Nettleton High School in 1965 and from MSU in 1969. He later obtained a Master's Degree from MSU. He began his teaching career in the Nettleton Elementary School in 1969 and soon afterwards became principal at the Nettleton Primary School. After a brief time of self-employment, he became the assistant principal at the Guntown Middle School. He served there as an assistant principal until his retirement in 2006. Melvin never missed the joint class reuions of Nettleton High School. He was a big part of the singing entertainment at the reuinon. Also, he always had at least one joke to tell. Melvin enjoyed life to the fullest as long as he was able. He spent countless mornings entertaining the coffee drinkers with his jokes and quick wit. He was always prepared to offer uncomplimentary comments to anyone present in his usual joking manner. He was fond of watching Gunsmoke and most westerns, but was an avid viewer of Fox News. One of his favorite pasttimes was sitting on his porch to smoke his cigarette, drink coffee and cast an admiring eye over the family "Ponderosa." He really had a great time visiting with old friends and talking about their past adventures. For years a favorite hobby of his was gardening. He loved to talk about his tomatoes and peppers, always offering some to whoever wanted them. You could always bet that he would be listening to Golden Oldies music of the sixties.
