Melford Ray Smith

Aberdeen- Melford Ray Smith, 76, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at the NMMC-Tupelo.  He was born on October 30, 1948 in Bay City, TX to Eulis Stanton Smith Jr. and Anita Ann Wilke Smith. He was a proud veteran and served in the United States Navy. Melford was highly educated and graduated from most all the major universities in Mississippi with degrees from Delta State University, Millsaps and he obtained his masters at Mississippi State University. His true passion was traveling out West. He was an avid outdoorsman he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid football fan and enjoyed photography. He attended Faith Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by one son, Sean Doyle Smith, two daughters, Hope Lawson Austin (Matthew), Rivers Smith Sellers (Robert), 10 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Wade Smith and one sister, Barbara Smith.
