Mary Clifford Hanna Sanders, 95, passed away from this life on Saturday April 6, 2024 at her home. Born in Okolona on February 5, 1929, she was a daughter to Carl Clifton Hanna, Sr. and Mary Lucille Milstead Hanna. She was a graduate of Okolona High School and after graduation, moved to Memphis, TN and worked in the offices of Sears, Roebuck, and Co. She later moved back to her home area and worked in the garment industry retiring from TIL Garment. After her retirement, she kept children in her home and had a lasting impact on their lives. In addition, she sewed for the public. Mrs. Sanders was a devoted homemaker where she enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, and music. She loved her family immensely. For more that 20 years, she was the secretary for the Wren Cemetery Association. She was also a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Aberdeen.
Funeral services will be on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 12 noon at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen with Bro. Robert Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Wren Cemetery, conditions allowing.
She is survived by 4 daughters, Delores Sanders Echols (Gary) of West Point; Carolyn Sanders of West Point, Janette “Jay” Whitaker (David) of Hamilton, and Loretta S. Milican (Billy) of West Point; her son, James Albert Sanders, III (Lynn) of the Westville Community; brother Carl Hanna (Janet) of Pontotoc; sisters, Nell Lawson (Tommy) of Wren, Nita Ausborn of Becker, and Wutzi Kendrick of Aberdeen; grandchildren, Monica Coleman, Brian Wilemon, Carie Odom, Haley Whitaker, Sabrina Milican, Ance Lee Milican, Brittany Crow, Dale Milican, Sunni Rae Milican, Megan Feth, Cliff Sanders, and Lee Sanders; 16 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John William Hanna; sister Janie G. Darty; and granddaughter, Mary Anna Kehl Milican.
Serving as pallbearers are Brian Wilemon, Cliff Sanders, Lee Sanders, Ance Lee Milican, Dale Milican, Seth Holley, and Ethan Holley. Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Coleman, Miles Wilemon, Ben Wilemon, Eli Whitaker Irvin.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service hour.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wren Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 354 Aberdeen, MS 39730.
