Mary Frances “Cookie” Coker Pierce, 81, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023, at Oak Tree Manor in Amory. Born in Amory on December 5, 1941, she was a daughter to W.L. and Margaret Patterson Coker. Graduating from Amory High School in 1959, she furthered her education at Mississippi State University and later at Delta State University. In 1961, she began working as a program clerk with the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service currently called the Farm Service Agency. In September 2000 she retired after 39 years of service but with her unused sick leave, she accrued a total of 42 years of federal service. She married Coach Thomas Pierce, and they poured their soul into Aberdeen and with the Aberdeen Bulldogs. A true Southern lady, she was a devoted wife and mother, and she was known for her homemade pound cakes. She liked making jewelry and she was a faithful member of Aberdeen First Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen with Dr. Lloyd Sweatt officiating. Burial will follow in the Haughton Memorial Park Cemetery.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Reed “Tommy” Pierce, Jr. of Aberdeen; one brother, Rex Coker (Gloria) of Amory; one sister, Margaret Hendrik (Joe) of Nettleton; step sister, Judy Coleman; grandchildren, Taylor Pierce and Bayley Pierce; and one great grandchild, Hudson Tate Young; nieces, Teresa Stanford (Ed), Janice Baucom (Jim), and Sandra Love; and nephews, Ronnie Pierce, Steve Coker (Geneva), Kenny Coker (Tonya) and David Coker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Pierce; brother, Ed Coker; sister-in-law, Rose Coker; stepfather, Paul Larkin; stepbrothers, John, Sam, and Jim Larkin; and stepsisters, Mary Ann Scott and Carol Larkin; nephew, Chris Coker; and niece, Emily Entrekin.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Coker, Kenneth Coker, Drew Coker, Steve Coker, Kasey Coker, and Ronnie Pierce.
Visitation will be on Thursday evening September 21, 2023 from 4 until 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for her great-great niece, Logan Stanford.
