Martha Frances Raley Buffington, 87, died October 31, 2024 at North Mississippi Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Buffington was born in St. George, South Carolina to the late Charles Rembert and Martha Louise Appleby Raley and had lived in Aberdeen since 1948.
She graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1955 and attended Mississippi University for Women. She married Jim Buffington in 1956.
Mrs. Buffington served as a Monroe County Deputy Circuit Clerk for a number of years, then as a sales representative for the family-owned radio stations.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Aberdeen, a charter member of Tombigbee Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of the Magnolia Garden Club and the Day Commission at The Magnolias.
She leaves behind a daughter, Caroline Buffington Pugh and husband, Rusty, of Tupelo; two grandsons, Matthew Pugh (fiance Sally) of Aberdeen and Charlie Pugh of Tupelo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jim Buffington, an infant daughter and two brothers, Rembert Raley, Jr. and Michael Raley.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at Tisdale Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Sunday from 1 PM until 2 PM.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Ray Lacey, Bill Edwards, James Stockton, Dane Brasfield, George Provias, Nick Valsamakis, Chris Valsamakis, Michael Raley and David Raley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 93, Aberdeen, MS 39730.
