Martha R. Brown Chaney, 95, passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at her residence. She was born on March 13, 1924, in High Point to W.J. and Irene Reagin Brown. She was a native of Winston County but had resided in Nettleton for the past 75 years, was a homemaker and was also employed at several retail stores, and was a member of the Temple Grove Baptist Church. Martha enjoyed quilting, cooking, crossword puzzles, & being with her family. Survivors include one daughter, Kim Corzine and her devoted son-in-law, Charlie of Nettleton; her God Family she was blessed with, Carol Springfield Carman; two grandchildren, John Tyler Carman (Jesse) and Molly Katy Nelson (Alex); two great-grandchildren, Kyleigh and Kaden Nelson; several nieces and nephews who cherished her for generation after generation for the love she so freely gave; her special treasured friends, Mary Hairold & Gee Coggin, both of Nettleton, & Kathleen Weeks of High Point. She was preceded in death by her husband, Odessel “Dick” Chaney; her parents; one son, Larry Thomas Chaney; two brothers, Howard Wayne Brown and Reagin “Topp” Brown; one sister, Nan Jones.
