Marie Welch McLemore

Marie Welch McLemore, 88 passed away Saturday, May 8, 2021 at her residence in Hamilton. She was born on January 17, 1933 in Aberdeen to the late John and Tarnell Bobo Welch. Marie was a 1950 graduate of Hamilton High School where she played on the basketball team. She married JW McLemore on February 1, 1952. In 1969 she graduated from Vaughn’s Beauty College and would begin a career that would span over 40 years with her owning and operating Marie’s Beauty Shop. She enjoyed spending time in her yard gardening and playing Domino’s with her church friends. She also loved watching Mississippi State University football, basketball and baseball. More than anything, Marie loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. She was proud to leave a 4-generation legacy of hard work, fun times and many wonderful memories with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren on the family farm. She was a longtime member of Center Hill Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Tena McCormick (Russell), Hamilton; daughter in law, Pam McLemore, Tuscaloosa; grandchildren, Amanda Walker (Jamie), Justin McLemore (Savannah) and Jon McLemore (Bret); 10 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, James W. McLemore, Jr.; sisters, Evelyn Pounders, Mary Ann Reeves and Shirley Watson.

Funeral Services will be held at 4 PM on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Tisdale Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen with Bro. Terry Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Justin and Jon McLemore, Jamie Walker, Danny Holloway, Jason Cantrell and Russell McCormick.

Visitation will be prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3-3:45 PM.
