Lela Ann Pate

Lela Ann Pate, 73, passed away on October 29, 2024, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born on May 28, 1951, in Jackson, TN, she was a daughter to James Alvin Swindle, Sr. and Rachel Sue Jowers Smith. She grew up in Bells, TN and met and married Bennie Pate, and moved to the Aberdeen area. She retired from the Aberdeen School District as cafeteria manager, and she also drove a school bus. She was a member of the Grace Chapel Baptist Church, and she loved making arts and crafts, baking, and making candy. 

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen. Burial will follow in the Thompson Cemetery. 

She is survived by one son, Jerry Ashcraft of Aberdeen; daughter, Rachel Curvin (Daniel) of Pine Bluff, AR; step-daughter, Paula Spruill (Jerry) of Hamilton; sisters, Barbara Espinosa (Manuel) of Clarksville, TN, Revonda Swindle Ratliff (Ray) of Irving, TX, Jamie Swindle of Alamo, TN, and Stacie Swindle (Lester) of Alamo, TN; grandchildren, Chris Ashcraft (Brianna), Breanna Ashcraft, Katelyn Ashcraft, Cory Wilton, Cody Wilton, Jeremy Curvin, Dylan Qualls, Shannon Daniels (Jeremy), Jessie Spruill (Erin), Ken Spruill (Karisa), and Becca McGinty (Jerald); great grandchildren, Ivy, Claire, Alaina, Khloea Brooke, Remi Grace, Hayden, Harlin, Mikey, and Evelyn. 

She is preceded in death by brother, James Swindle and sisters, Geneva Sue Hensley, Mary Webb, Sharon Kay Swindle, Connie Swindle Graham, and Ceciely Diane Johnson.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Little, Tom Wilkinson, Tommy Neal, Robert Barnes, Nathan Barnes, and Chris Ashcraft.

Visitation will be on Friday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
