Lee Hollis “Red” Burt, 85, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born on June 12, 1933, in Itawamba County to Tracy and Mamie Roebuck Burt. He was a lifelong resident of Monroe County, was a self-employed owner of Burt’s Redi-Mix and Bull Mountain Gravel, and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Red loved to go fishing, seeing after his cows, working in his garden, & being with his family. Survivors include his wife, Frances Scribner Burt of Nettleton; three daughters, Donna Holley (Johnny) of Amory, Tina Henry and Tammy Flurry (Gary), all of Nettleton; one son, Ricky Burt (Lynn) of Nettleton; two sisters, Christine Plunkett of Nettleton and Frankie Estes of Tupelo; eight grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Wayne Burt; three sisters; two brothers; one grandson, Nat Pearson.
