Nettleton- Henry Lamar Pettigrew, 90, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at the NMMC-Tupelo. He was born in the Union Community on May 4, 1934 to parents Maurice Miller Pettigrew and Essie (Wallace) Pettigrew. He attended Nettleton School. Upon his graduation in 1953, he went to work as an assistant cost clerk at Day-Brite in Tupelo. During his 20 year tenure at Day-Brite he moved up through the corporate ladder and became Production Manager. He married Frances Coggin in 1954 and was her loving husband for 65 years. They were blessed with three children and they made Nettleton their home. He and Frances along with his parents operated Pettigrew Grocery in the Union Community for many years. In 1973 he left Day-Brite and joined his brother, Fred, to form Pettigrew Cabinets, Inc. He attended Union United Methodist Church as a youth with his family. After marriage, he moved his membership to Shiloh United Methodist Church. He volunteered at the Nettleton Food Pantry and other worthy causes. His greatest joy besides his family was working on his farm and in the woods.
Funeral Services will be on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton with Rev. Danny Dabbs and Rev. Danny Estes officiating. A Private Family Burial will be in New Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11-1 prior to service time at the funeral home.
He is survived by his two daughters, Donna Parsons (Ronnie) of Bartlett, TN; Leshia Pettigrew Roberts (Alan) of Nettleton; 2 grandchildren, Jennifer Corbin, Kasi Gwin, 5 great grandchildren, Baylee, Brantley, Maddie, Maysie, Russell, Jr., one brother, Fred Pettigrew (Brenda) of Plantersville and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, David Pettigrew, 2 brothers, Charles and Jerry Pettigrew.
Pallbearers will be Robby Gwin, Russell Otero, Merle McAnally, Jeff Pettigrew, Craig Pettigrew and Jerry Pettigrew, Jr.
Honorary pallbearer will be Brantley Hester.
