Kenneth Jones

Marion Kenneth Jones, 77, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.  Born on April 8, 1945, he was a son to Irvin Ray and Dessie Montgomery Jones.  Kenneth was a life-long resident of Nettleton and a graduate of Nettleton High School.  After a period of working in the area furniture industry, he furthered his education receiving both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in education from Mississippi State University.  He began a career as a teacher at Plantersville Junior High from which he retired as Principal after 30 years.  Kenneth cared deeply for his students and staff and remained close with the faculty even after retiring.  He enjoyed fishing and drinking coffee with his buddies.  He attended Jones Chapel Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2023 at Jones Chapel Baptist Church with Bro. Wesley Stephens and Carroll Pettigrew officiating.  Burial will follow in the Jones Chapel Cemetery.  Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.  

He is survived by his son, Robert Jones (Skylar) of Tupelo; daughter, Erin Jones of Tupelo; brother, Billy Jones (Ann) of Nettleton; two sisters, Shirley Childers of Amory and Elaine Riley (Johnny) of the Carolina Community; his grandchildren, Mylee Jones and Watson Jones; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from noon until service time at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Plantersville Middle School PTO.
