Juanita Davis

Juanita Helen Davis, 84, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at her home.  Born in Caledonia on July 23, 1939, she was a daughter to Cephas and Velma Purser Pounders.   She grew up in Lepanto, AR and later moved to Monroe County.  Before her retirement, she worked in the garment industry, the cotton gin, and she also sat with the elderly.  She is most known for her baking and for many years she baked cakes for the public doing weddings and birthdays, but her specialty was her caramel cake.  She was the widow of Bobby Wayne Davis, and she was a member of the Hamilton Baptist Church.  Her hobbies included working with her flowers and gardening. 

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the Hamilton Church of God of Prophecy with Bro. Robert Moore officiating.  Burial will follow in the McDuffa Cemetery.  Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. 

She is survived by one son, Wayne Davis (Tammie) of Lackey; one daughter, Cindy Davis of Lackey; one brother, Harold Pounders of Jonesboro, AR; one sister, Shirley VanSickle of French Settlement, LA; her grandson, Matthew Davis (Jessica) of Rockport, IN; 2 great grandchildren, Waylan and Haddie Davis; and she was lovingly known as Aunt Neeter by her multitude of nieces and nephews.  

She was grateful for her caregivers, Cindy Covington, Tyrechia Ivory, and Brandie Vaughan; her Gentiva Hospice nurses, Kelsey Lynn and Denise Green; and Sandi Stevens with Lifeline Companions.  

She is preceded  in death by her siblings, James  "Buddy" Pounders, Charlotte Powell, Margaret Huff, and Donnie Pounders.    

Visitation will be from noon until service time at the church.  Family visitation will be from  11 a.m. until noon.  

Pallbearers will be Chris Powell, Tanner Pounders, Chris Maddox, Jason Pounders, Ernie Huff, Sean Poole, Bill Davis, Brandon Davis, and Jimmy Winders.
