Joe William Peden I, 75, passed away at his residence on Monday, March 17, 2025. Joe was born in Schlater, MS on September 17, 1949 to the late Charlie and Bea Viars Peden. Joe was a graduate of Hamilton High School and IJC. He went on to Mississippi State University after graduating from IJC. He married Brenda Sue Brown. Joe served 6 years in the Mississippi Army National guard and went on to serve another 23 years in the Air Force National Guard, retiring with 29 years of total military service. He worked for Burris Industries and later at Mr. Parts in Aberdeen. Joe was a faithful Christian who lived out his faith each and every day. He was passionate about serving at The Altar Church in Caledonia and volunteered with several different ministries. Always willing to help anyone in need, Joe was a generous and giving soul. He loved to watch all Mississippi State University sports and was a big time Nascar fan. Joe had a passion for old cars that he shared with his oldest son, Joe William II. They would spend hours on the phone talking cars and all of the newest tools. Joe also enjoyed spending quality time with his youngest son, Bradley, watching movies. The Lord placed Bentley, Joe's church sidekick, in his life and he would often take him along to car shows.
Joe is survived by his sons, Joe William Peden II, California and Bradley Peden (Elizabeth), Smithville; sister, Lela Payne (Hiram), Tupelo; brothers, Milton Peden (Wanda), Athens Community and C.B. Peden (Brenda), Amory; a host of nieces and nephews and his little buddy, Bentley Johns.
In addition to his wife and parents, Joe is preceded in death by his infant twin sons and a brother, Henry Peden.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Tisdale Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen with Bro.Corey Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Hall, Eric Faris, Jordan Faris, Charlie Peden, Oscar Peden and Austin Davidson.
Visitation will be held prior to the service on Saturday from 12 PM until 2 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Monroe County Cross of Christ or to the Altar Church in Caledonia.
