Nettleton-Joanne (Worthey) Burroughs, 82, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Select Specialty Hospital in Memphis, TN. She was born on July 20, 1940 in Monroe County to parents Earmel Lee Worthey and Laura (Griggs) Worthey. She lived most of her life in the Nettleton area. She was a member of Nettleton Church of Christ. She had worked for the United States Postal Service for over twenty years. Joanne enjoyed crossword puzzles, coloring and watching hummingbirds. She loved her dog Ruger and her family very much.
Funeral Services will be at Nettleton Church of Christ on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Matthew Irvin and Bro. Gregg Worthey officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home of Nettleton will be in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by two sons, Ronnie Burroughs (Janet), Gary Burroughs (Darlene), eight grandchildren, Rusty Burroughs, Kendi Burroughs Hitt, Constance Boykin, Lezlie Pender, Blade Burroughs, Lane Tyler, Colt Tyler, Jennifer Justice, nineteen great grandchildren, one brother, Earnest Pete Worthey (Kay), four sisters, Evelyn Laney (Paul), Peggy Green (Tyson), Carol Thomas (Danny), Janice Logan and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Billy Burroughs, and one brother Gerald Worthey.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Burroughs, Blade Burroughs, Lane Tyler, Colt Tyler, Ethan Brown and Dayton Hitt.
Visitation will be Thursday night, October 27, 2022 at the church from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and on Friday, October 28 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. before service time at the church.
