Joan Augusta Millender Loftin passed away on March 25, 2025, at North MS Medical Center in West Point, MS. She was born on February 9. 1931 to W. E. Millender and Fay Ray Millender in Prairie, MS. She was a graduate of Aberdeen High School in 1948 and attended Draughn’s Business College in Jackson, MS. She met and fell in love with Knox Harold Loftin and they married on March 18, 1950. She owned and operated a small general merchandise store in Gibson where she was also the postmaster for the community with the United States Postal Service for several years. Later she served as an Office Manager/Bookkeeper for Camper’s World which later became Aberdeen RV Center, Inc. and worked there until she was 90 years old when the business was closed in 2021.

Mrs. Loftin was a faithful member of the St. Mark Methodist Church where she served as the treasure for 50 years. She loved going camping and skiing at Smith Lake (which she referred to her ‘Heaven on Earth’) with her family. She also enjoyed making floral arrangements from her home grown flowers, sewing, cake decorating, and making bookmark crosses which she gifted out frequently.

She is survived by her children, David Loftin (Elaine), Daniel Loftin (Cheryl), Pamela Hall (Ronnie). Grandchildren Kate Gilreath (Jim), Christopher Loftin (Douglas), Ashley Cole Byrd, Jake Hall (Lauren), six great-grandchildren, and brother Frank Ray Millender.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Knox Loftin, Sr, her son, Knox Harold Loftin, Jr. and her brother, Thomas E. Millender.

Graveside services will be Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 3:00 at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Brother Kenneth Corley will officiate. Tisdale-Lann will oversee the arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Jake Hall, Christopher Loftin, Chris Brown, Steve Gaskin, Dale Pierce, Mitch Scott, Bill Aycock, and Mack Gilreath.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mark Methodist Church, 708 Lakewood Dr., Aberdeen, MS 39730.
