Jimmy Carl Hanna, 45, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. He was born on February 22, 1978 in Aberdeen to John William, Sr. and Odelia Cecilia Schmitz Hanna. Jimmy graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1996. He went to work in the family business, Hanna Construction, at the age of 12. He married the former Nikki English, and he was a master heavy equipment operator and liked nothing more than to be on a piece of machinery. Jimmy had a one-of-a-kind heart and would give to anyone who had need and never expected any kind of recognition. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and mostly anything outdoors and he liked working on old cars especially with his son, Thomas. But above all, he was the consummate family man and would do whatever was possible to make sure everyone was included in all the family activities. Through adversity, he never complained, and he was a faithful member of the Aberdeen Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at the Aberdeen Church of Christ with Minsiters Derrick Maranto and Jonathan Hagar officiating. Burial will follow in the Wren Cemetery. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home of Aberdeen is entrusted with the arrangements.
In addition to his wife, Nikki Hanna, he is survived by one son, Thomas Hanna; one daughter, Katie Hanna; two brothers, John Hanna, Jr (Megan) of Aberdeen and Christopher Harmon (Kimberly) of Hamilton; three sisters, Linda Pugh (Mike) of Hamilton, Paige Davis of Tremont, and Elizabeth Brook James (Frank) of Amory; and sister-in-law, Chastity Sullivan (Jonathan) of Hamilton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
