James Oliver Thompson, Jr., better known as Jim or Uncle Jim, passed away peacefully Friday, July 19, 2024. Survivors are sister, Catherine Dianne Thompson Schlosser, Houston, TX, previously of New Orleans, LA, nephew, Foster Schlosser (Robin) and grandnieces, Cathryn Anne Schlosser and Caroline Rae Schlosser, Houston, TX. Cathryn and Caroline were sources of light and beauty for their Uncle Jim.
Jim was born on June 12, 1954 in Aberdeen, MS, to James Oliver and Clara Thompson, who are deceased. He graduated from Amory High School, attended Itawamba Junior College, earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University, and completed the Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy. He worked for Marion Drugs in Lafayette, LA, and Houston, TX, and he was a pharmacist in Dallas, TX. His love was fashion photography, which he pursued while living in Houston and Dallas.
After having a stroke in 2016, he moved to New Orleans, LA, to be close to family. He lived independently until 2020. Needing additional care, he moved to Willow Wood at Woldenberg Village in New Orleans. His family wants to thank Baylor Hospital in Dallas and Willow Wood at Woldenberg Village in New Orleans for the excellent care he received. They also want to thank all the friends who supported them during the last eight years.
A graveside service will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Aberdeen, MS on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 10:00 AM.
