Jean Gallop Thompson, 77, passed away July 12, 2018, at the North Mississippi Medical Center – Hospice in Tupelo, MS. She was born June 18, 1941, to J.D. and Polly Gallop, of Wren. She married Buddy Thompson in 1959.
A graduate of Amory High School ’59 and a resident of Aberdeen all her adult life, she was a loyal and beloved member of the First United Methodist Church and a fixture at Edward Jones Investments, where she worked for more than 25 years. She was also a long-standing member of the Aberdeen Country Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Riley Clifton Thompson.
Jean is survived by one daughter: Jaye Manning (Mike), of Amory; two grandsons: Riley Manning (Alyssa), of Tupelo, and Charlie Manning, of Amory, and one great granddaughter, Marissa Claire Vail-Delaney, of Tupelo; one sister, Rose Morgan, of Amory; two brothers, Jason Gallop (Sherron), of Amory, and Ray Gallop (Sandra), of Wren; four nephews: Hal Morgan (Leslie) of Amory, Steve Gallop (Charity), of Amory, Patrick Gallop (Stephanie), of Wren, M.J. Gallop, of Houston, Texas; seven great nieces and nephews: Jonathon Morgan (Anna), MacKenzie Gallop, Madison Gallop, Lauren Gallop, Lillian Gallop, Carl Gallop and Faith Gallop; one great-great niece: Stella Morgan; several cousins.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Riley Manning and Charlie Manning, Greg Bowen, Nolan Bowen, Skipper Ransom, John Smith.
Visitation will be Friday, July 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Aberdeen.
