James "Jim" Nolen

James (Jim) Doyle Nolen 76 of Hamilton, MS passed away Saturday, October 7^th at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS; he was born February 5, 1947 to the late James W. Nolen and Mildred Frances Burkes Nolen in Aberdeen Mississippi.

Mr. Nolen is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marie Eileen Carter Nolen of Hamilton; children Anita Nolen Blakney (Joey) of Greenwood Springs, MS, Jennifer Nolen Oliver of Columbus, MS; grandchildren, Courtney Elizabeth Wiley, Anthony DeWayne Blakney (Rylee), Nolan Riley Blakney; great-grandchildren, Ava Addison Bray and Paislee Jade Troester; sister, the late Dolores Ann McCann (Butch) of Smithville, TN and several nieces and nephews. 

Mr. Nolen was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a faithful member and deacon of Sulphur Springs Primitive Baptist Church. He was a loving husband and father. He loved spending time with his family, church, and working in his yard. 

Mr. Nolen worked in maintenance for Baldor Electric, Kerr-McGee Forrest Products and Prestige Farms in West Point, MS before his retirement. He loved working on things and coming up with ingenious ways to fix and repair things with little or no tools or resources. He considered it a great accomplishment to repair something that seemed impossible to fix. 

Pallbearers will be James Waddle, Jim Waddle, Mitchell Carter, Robert Forte, Kelson Brewer, and Orein Holley.

Honorary Pallbearers include the members of Sulphur Springs Primitive Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be at Sulphur Springs Primitive Baptist Church in Caledonia, MS. On Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 2 PM with Bro. Joe Nettles and Bro. Bobby Howell officiating.  Burial will follow in Egger Cemetery.

Visitation will be held prior to the service on Wednesday at the church from noon until 1:45 PM.
