Nettleton- James Roy Gillentine, 78, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at the NMMC in Tupelo. He was born in Lee County on July 15, 1945 to parents Roy B. Gillentine and Lizzie Lee (Prestage) Gillentine. He lived most of his life in the Okolona and Nettleton areas. He had worked as a pawn broker. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, watching Westerns on television and being with family.
Funeral Services will be on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home of Nettleton with Bro.Sammy Raper officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.
Visitation will on Sunday from 12:00-2:00 prior to service time.
He is survived by one son, Joel Gillentine (Jessica) of Belden; daughters, Scarlett Gillentine of Tupelo; Angie Burroughs (Mark) of Nettleton; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, three brothers, Larry Gillentine, Bobby Gillentine, Johnny (J.C.) Gillentine, one sister, Dorothy Culver and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Tommy Gillentine, Roy Gillentine and one sister, Catherine Ford.
