Herbert Denver Holt

Herbert Denver Holt, age 86, died Monday, October 19, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in
Columbus. He was born September 14, 1934, to George Presley Holt and Emma Jane Rye Holt
in Quincy Community. At the age of seventeen, he enlisted in the U. S. Army serving in France
for four years. He married Mary Agnes Smith Holt on July 2, 1958, and was married for sixty- two
years. He retired after thirty years from Kerr McGee Chemical Corporation in Hamilton. He led
Bible study and taught adult Sunday school classes for many years. He served as a deacon at
Bartahatchie Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing bream and crappie and hunting deer. He also
enjoyed bluegrass music and watching westerns. He was devoted to his family.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 24, 2020, in the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel
in Aberdeen with Bro. Philip Lindsey and Bro. Robert Moore officiating. Burial will be in
Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 23, 2020
at the funeral home.

Survivors include one daughter, Renelda Holt Goode (Michael) of Grubb Springs, MS; one son,
Darryl Holt of Grubb Springs, MS; one sister, Sylvia Isbell Hollis (Lecil) of Grubb Springs, MS;
several nieces and nephews; special friend, Samantha his dog.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Agnes Holt; three sisters, Annie Mae
Miles, Darlene Loper, Bessie Jaudon Easter; and one brother, John Presley Holt.
