Roy Glen Lavender, 69, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022, at his home in Aberdeen. Glen was born on August 1, 1953, in Monroe County to Roy Everette and Mary Ethel Whitworth Lavender. On December 21, 1973, Glen married his best friend, Cynthia Sykes and prior to his retirement, he worked for Walker Manufacturing for 18 years. Glen was the consummate family man. Everything he did was for the benefit of his family especially in protecting and providing for his wife. He was instrumental in raising his grandson, Jaye, teaching him to back a trailer at 6 years old. Glen was an avid outdoorsman and he and his family could often be found at the campground, riding motorcycles, or fishing. He was a Baptist and a man of great faith who had the utmost confidence in his Redeemer.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen with Bro. Robert Earl Fowlkes officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Bartahatchie.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife of 49 years, Cynthia Lavender of Aberdeen; his daughter, Stacy Lynn Ward of Aberdeen; his grandson, Jaye Ward of Aberdeen; and brother, James Randy Lavender of Tupelo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jonathan Eric Lavender; and sister, Ann Ware.
Pallbearers will be Jaye Ward, Juwan Davis, Kerry Joe Sykes, Chris Sykes, Nathan Sykes, and Terrel Harris.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 11 until service time.
