Gene Red

Herbert Eugene “Gene” Red, 71, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at his home in Aberdeen.  He was born on October 4, 1951, in Summerville, TN to Herbert Ray and Mary Louise Davis Red.  Gene lived in Aberdeen most his life and he married the former Beverly Jean Thompson.  Prior to his retirement, he worked as a self-employed contractor for area water associations.  Gene loved to hunt, especially deer and turkey and he was able to enjoy one last hunt this season with the assistance of his sons.  He was an avid gun trader, and he was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. 

Funeral services will be at 1p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Tisdale-Lann Funeral Home in Aberdeen with Bro. George Collins officiating.  Byron Kennedy and David Williams will deliver eulogies.  Burial will follow in the Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. 

In addition to his wife, Beverly Red, he is survived by two sons, Michael Red (Amanda) of Aberdeen and Allen Red (Deri) of Bigbee; two brothers, Robert L. Red (Authurene) of Okolona and John Thomas Red of Hamilton, MS; one sister, Martha Louise Sykes of Aberdeen; grandchildren, Scottie Red (Anna), Justin Red, Chad Red, Leslie Posey, Terry Brown (Kristen), Tessie Stone (Tyler),Kaylee Red, Cory Watts and Byron Burns; great grandchildren, Alyssa Red, Laken Red, Jenna Red, Julie Red, Camille Red, Remington Red, Clark Red, Chloee Red, Riley Red, Cody Red, Mia Posey, Maria Posey, Octavia Brown, Jersey Harlow, Tucker Chaney, Thaylen Stone, and Titus Stone.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Jimmy Ray Red, and Aubrey Red; and by one baby sister, Loretta Red.

Pallbearers will be Terry Brown, Scotty Red, Justin Red, Chad Red, Tyler Stone, Chris Sykes, Kerry Joe Sykes.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jay Hand, Lonnie Red, Paul Red, Cody Red.

Visitation will be on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the service time.
