Nettleton- Lester Gary Hodnett, 65, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024 at the NMMC-Tupelo. Gary was born in Hinds County on May 7, 1959 to parents Lester Ruble Hodnett and Anna Jean (Barnes) Hodnett. He was a lifelong resident of Shannon and a retired supervisor in the poly foam industry. He was a member of Church of God of Prophecy in Verona. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, reading and watching sci-fi movies. Gary loved spending time with his family and he loved his dogs very much.
Funeral Services have been set for Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 11 am in the Chapel of Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home of Nettleton with Bro. Terrance Sutherfield officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery near Aberdeen.
Visitation will be prior to service from 10-11 am at the funeral home.
He is survived by his lifelong partner, Lucy Blair, four daughters, Marie Dillard (Steven), Lee Ann Nickell (Brent), Melissa Carnahan (Edward), Elizabeth Wilkes (Zack), one sister, Debra Pickett (Brian), seven grandchildren, Austin and Kayla Dillard, Brianna James (James), John Ayden Sloan, Iziah Carnahan, Scarlet Carnahan, Sophia Brown, one great grandchild, Hunter Wilburn, his best buddies, Greg Morgan and Charles Copeland, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ricky and Larry Hodnett, one sister, Pam Berryhill, and one niece, Cassandra Hodnett.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Coker, Steven Dillard, Austin Dillard, Greg Morgan, Brent Nickell and Jessie McBride.
Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Carnahan Jr and Jamie Burrows.
