Flora Strawbridge Sullivan, 89, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at her residence. She was born on May 1, 1933 in Vernon, Alabama to the late James O. and Beatuis Dobbins Strawbridge. Flora moved with her family at an early age to Hamilton, where she has resided for over 80 years. She was a devoted mother and wife and a faithful child of God. She attended the Church of God and made it her life’s work to show the love of Christ to all. Flora enjoyed cooking, keeping her yard clean and working in her flowers, fishing, gardening and shopping. She dearly loved her family, especially visiting with the grands and great grands and taking vacations with her family. She enjoyed collecting glass crystal of all kinds, sitting in her rocking chair while watching her redbirds and hummingbirds.
Flora is survived by her daughter, Linda Whitaker (Jerry), Hamilton; grandchildren, Tina Whitaker Perkins (Shane) and Chase Whitaker (Amanda), all of Hamilton; great grandchildren, Carley, Logan and Neely Whitaker and Dylan Perkins; sisters in law, Opal Davis of Shreveport, LA and Rachel Griggs of Okolona; special friends, Little Betty and her sisters; nieces, Nancy Thompson (Ricky), Elaine Prillhart (Rusty) and Ann Bishop (Mickey).
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Roger Sullivan; brother, James L. Strawbridge; sister, Gurthleen Pickle.
A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at Fig Hill Church of God.
Visitation will be at the church from 2-3 PM on Sunday.
