Evie Davis

Evie Rhee Davis, 92, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Monroe Regional Hospital in Aberdeen. A lifelong resident of Monroe County, she was born on December 7, 1931 to Charlie and Ozzie Williams Honeycutt.  She graduated Hamilton High School where she was a cheerleader and excelled in basketball. She was married to James Thearl Davis who preceded her in death.  A devoted homemaker, she also worked outside the home for Monroe Sportswear for 10 years.  Mrs. Evie loved life, her friends, being the center of attention, and she was always dressed to the nines.  She enjoyed listening to live music at Tag’s or traveling over to the Sparta Opry which she did well into her eighties.  She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.  

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at New Prospect Baptist Church with Bro. Kevin Brown officiating and Brandon Davis will deliver the eulogy.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home of Aberdeen has been entrusted with the arrangements.

She is survived by two daughters, Glenda Drake (Phillip) of Hamilton and Becky Spear of Trussville, AL; 6 grandchildren, Brandon Davis (Monica), Kimberly Davis (Michelle), David Davis (Taylor), Dawn Boggan (Kenny), Daniel Drake (Claire), and Kyle Scott; great grandchildren, Bailey, Dallas, Hunter, Cayden, Lane, and Owen; and a host of nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Thearl Davis; two sons, Mickey and Derrell Davis; brothers, Grady and Charles Franklin Honeycutt; and sisters, Veatrice Evans, Ludie Short, Maxie House, Bonnie Hearn, Joann Bailey, and Imogene Scott.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.  Honorary pallbearers will be Lane and Owen Davis, Dorothy Malone, Lin Scott, Barbara Hutchinson, Tag’s Tuesday night music friends, Bobby and Elaine Fretwell, and Matt Harris.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the service hour at the church.

Memorials may be made to the New Prospect Baptist Church Building Fund.
