Ethel Red

Ethel Ann Chaffin Red, 71, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at the Care Center of Aberdeen.  She was born on June 11, 1951, in San Antonio, TX to Willie J.C. and Rita Mae Ardiff Chaffin.  A life-long resident of Aberdeen, she was an assistant teacher at Aberdeen Elementary and she later worked at Northside Amoco.  She enjoyed crocheting, traveling, going to the casino.  In addition, she was an avid conversationalist who loved to discuss opposing views.  She was Catholic.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen.  

She is survived by her daughter, Teri Dobbs (Johnny) of Tupelo; two sons, Tracy Red (Cristi) of Columbus and Travis Red (Amy) of Okolona; brothers, John Chaffin (Laura) of Houston, TX, Doug Chaffin (Kathy) of North Carolina, and Joseph Chaffin (Veronica) of San Antonio,  TX; sister, Mary Chaffin (Jerry) of San Antonio; 10 grandchildren, Danny Dobbs (Justin), William Dobbs, Jonathan Red (Jocelyn), Savannah Red, Alyssa Red, Nelson Britt, Brylei Red, Taelyn Red, Lachlan Red, Serenity Red; and great granddaughter, Elsa Dobbs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Aubrey Red; grandson, Micah Dobbs; two brothers, Robert Chaffin and Willie JC Chaffin, Jr; one sister, Rita Mae Rodriguez; and two brothers-in-law, Jimmy Red and Frank Sykes.

Her grandsons and nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 1 until 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
