Erma Lee Reeves Hamilton, 86, passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018 at Windsor Place in Columbus, MS. Lann Memorial Funeral Home of Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements. She was born May 24, 1932 in the Bartahatchie Community in Monroe County to the late Susie Lee Nowlin and Dudley Reeves. She graduated from Greenwood Springs High School, and attended Itawamba Junior College. She was retired from Kerr-McGee/Tronox. She was married to Basel Hamilton for 49 years, living in the Bartahatchie community until after his death. She moved to Columbus in 2004 living at Trinity and then her last years at Windsor Place. She was an active member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday School and serving as church pianist for many years. She later attended Wesley United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, James Tilton Reeves, and one sister, Eleanor Reeves Walters. She is survived by her daughter, Patti Thompson (Jim) Columbus, MS; sons – Phillip Hamilton (Melody), Huttig, AR; Mark Hamilton (Debbie), Purvis, MS; brother – Truman Reeves (Hazel) Bessemer, AL; sister – Mary Sue Jones, Bartahatchie Community. She is also survived by six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff of Windsor Place who lovingly cared for her these last years.
