Eleanor Jackson

Eleanor Watson Jackson, 88, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024 the NMMC in Tupelo.  She was born in Hamilton, AL on January 20, 1936 to the late Flavus and Vera Sanderson Watson.  Eleanor attended Byrd School in the Byrd Community near Hamilton.  On December 24, 1952 she married Lenice Mixon and together, they raised their 2 children, Marita and Gregg.  Eleanor was a proud supporter of her children and was always a loving mother.  Until her retirement, she owned and operated B & M Exterminating in Aberdeen.  Eleanor was a master gardener, growing flowers and vegetables.  She was always looking to perfect her gardening skills  and loved sharing and learning ideas from her colleagues in the garden club.  Not only did she enjoy the garden clubs, she also belonged to several civic and social clubs in and around Aberdeen.  Eleanor was a natural in the kitchen, cooking and catering for many local events.  In 1985 she married Dexter Jackson.  She and Dexter enjoyed many travels together.  She was also a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Aberdeen and took part in many church activities.  Eleanor Watson Jackson had a very accomplished and well lived life.  Her memories will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

Eleanor is survived by her Children, Marita King (Bill) of Houston, Tx and Gregg Mixon (Denise) of Birmingham, AL; brother, Vernon Watson, Amory; granddaughter, Eleanor Leigh Knight (Austin); step grandchildren, Cam Gunter (Mark), Chad Wilson, Courtney Ann Hall (Drew) and John Jackson (Hannah); great grandchildren, Reed and Audrey Knight; step great grandchildren, Payton and Ashley Gunter, Brady Wilson, Jackson Hall and Hudson Jackson; a host of nieces and nephews.  

In addition to her parents and husbands, Eleanor is preceded in death her sisters, Barbara Jamison, Laverne Latham and Evon Patterson; brother, Verlon Watson.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, August 9, 2024 at Tisdale Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen with Bro. Mark Thornton and Mr. Austin Knight officiating.  Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Garden.  Pallbearers will be Mitch Scott, Payton Gunter, Mark Gunter, Terry Logan, Frank Bender and Austin Knight.

Visitation will be prior to the service on Friday from 1PM until 1:50PM.
