Rose Elaine Standford Fretwell, 71, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2025 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born on October 1, 1953 in Aberdeen to J.B. and Christine Ross Stanford. She married Bobby Fretwell on February 28, 1969 whom she adored, and for 27 ½ years, she worked for the Aberdeen School District as a bus driver and in maintenance. Elaine was gifted with the ability to sing and play the piano which she enjoyed doing for so many years. Family time was special to her whether it was going to the river, spending time with her grandchildren or playing cards with her sister. Her heart bursted with pride any time she spoke of her family. Living her life for God, she gave all she could, and she was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Every Tuesday night Elaine loved going to TAG's Restaurant in Hamilton to sing.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Aberdeen with Bro. George Collins, Bro. Dempsey Rowland, and Bro.Randy Clardy officiating. Burial will follow in the Lebanon Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 56 years, Bobby Joe Fretwell; three sons, Bobby Joe Fretwell, II (Sabrina), Amory, Kenneth Laine Fretwell (Angie), Aberdeen, and Eric Fretwell (Kim), Athens Community; daughter, Janice Lynn Fretwell, Altoona, AL; foster brother, Paul Patrick, Iuka, MS; her sister, Christie Baugh, Athens Community; her grandchildren, Ashley Humbers (Corey), Courtney Smith (Craig), Brittany Hernandez (Albert), Lainey Isaac (Corey), Justin Fretwell (Alyssa), Austin Fretwell, William Kelly, Landon Fretwell, Ashley Boyce (Brandon), Josh Staten (Mallory), Matt Staten (Amy), and Shelby Staten; great grandchildren, Madison Staten, Bree Boyce, Emily Berry, Heatan Humbers, Carson Staten, Maddy Boyce, Hayden Chandler, McKinsey Staten, Wyatt Duke, Bryce Smith, Christina Fretwell, Collin Staten, Anna-Leigh Humbers, Caleb Smith, Damien Hernandez, Henley Staten, Hunter Fretwell, Blakley Staten, Braiden Boyce, Hazley Humbers, and Ava Fretwell; a slew of nieces and nephews; and special friend, Robbie Bennett.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Donnie Wayne Fretwell; brother, Donnie J. Stanford; baby brother Stanford; and grandson, Braxton Fretwell.
Pallbearers will be Justin Fretwell, Austin Fretwell, Landon Fretwell, Chris Baugh, David Baugh, Craig Smith, Corey Humbers, Matt Staten, and Mikey Fretwell.
Visitation will be on Saturday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
