Charles Garvin Davidson, 88, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at his home in Aberdeen. He was born on December 3, 1935, in Tupelo to Colonel Claiborne and Stella West Davidson. He attended Lawhon Elementary in East Tupelo as a child but graduated from Shannon High School. Enlisting in the United States Navy on June 16, 1954, he proudly serviced his country. He attended Mississippi State University, and he was the owner and operator of Davidson & Sons Welding and Mechanical Piping and he was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 714 in Aberdeen. He loved animals but goats and Llamas were his favorites. He was a member of First Christian Church in Aberdeen.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen with Bro. Tim Tolleson and Bro. David Snyder officiating. Burial will follow in the Oddfellows Rest Cemetery with Military Honors.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Peggy Payne Davidson of Aberdeen; 2 sons, Chuck Davidson (Martha), Hamilton, Ricky Davidson, Tupelo, and Kendall Davidson (Tina), Aberdeen; grandchildren, Chris Davidson (Lauren), Columbus, Ashley Davidson (Brittany), Tupelo, Brandon Davidson, and Austin Davidson, both Aberdeen; 6 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; caregivers from Legacy Hospice; and Dora Cunningham.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his 3 sisters; his 2 brothers; his son, Wayne Davidson; and daughter-in-law, Melinda Davidson.
Pallbearers will be Chris Davidson, Ashley Davidson, Ethan Davidson, Evan Davidson, Austin Davidson, and Donnie Easter. Honorary pallbearer will be Brandon Davidson.
Visitation will from 9 a.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Aberdeen or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
