Betty Strickland

Betty Thomas Hill Strickland, 85, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Trinity Healthcare in Columbus.  Born on April 5, 1938, in Meridian, MS, she was a daughter to Dawson Lee and Willie Sellers Thomas.  Betty graduated high school in Meridian, and she was a bank teller for many years prior to her retirement.  A member of Longview Point Baptist Church in Hernando, MS, she was a devout Christian lady who had a beautiful singing voice and sang in the church choir.  She had a heart of gold, and she was known her outgoing personality.  She was a feisty lady who also loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her hobbies included reading, needlepoint, and cross stitch.  

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Center Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Michael Duff officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

She is survived by her daughters, Terri Duff (Michael) of Springfield, TN, Linda Dill (Donnie) of Hamilton, MS, and Kathy Young (Bob) of Hernando, MS; grandchildren, Chris Duff, Brandi Griffin (Jimmy), Ashley Britt (Chad), Kim Schafer (Jeff), Brian Young (Jaclyn), Tyler Young (Jessica) and Andrew Young; 12 great grandchildren; the father of her children, Ray Hill; and a host of nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Charles and Frank Thomas; 2 sisters, Mildred Townsend and Mazel Palmer; and her 2^nd husband, John Strickland.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from noon until the service time at the church.
