Bettie Jewel Rodgers Phillips

Bettie Jewel Rodgers Phillips departed this life on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo at the age of 80. She was born to Andrew and Bettie Brazzell Rodgers on December 7, 1937, in Aberdeen, MS where she lived her entire life. On January 1, 1956, she married Jeff Phillips who passed away on December 29, 2006. She attended Aberdeen High School, graduating as salutatorian of the class of 1955. She retired from National Bank of Commerce and later worked as a legal secretary for Attorney Tim Ervin. She was an active member of the Aberdeen Church of Christ where she taught classes and did bookkeeping for the church for over twenty years. She also belonged to several civic clubs and organizations in Aberdeen and served on the Historic Preservation Board and the Visitors Bureau Board. Survivors include her son Dr. Darrell Phillips (Annette) of Brandon, MS; three granddaughters Claire Elizabeth Phillips Lower, Sydney Marie Phillips and Meredith Elaine Phillips Wong (Lok Hin Terence Wong); one step-granddaughter Shelly Gentry and one step-grandson Aaron Gentry. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
