Bennie Wayne Callahan, age 72, died Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus. He was born November 17, 1947 to George Franklin Callahan and Millie V. Barnes Callahan in Monroe County. He attended Aberdeen School. Early in life he went to work on the family farm. He met and married Elizabeth Lynn and they were married for fifty years. He enlisted in the U. S. Army, and honorably served his country for many years. He retired as a welder from Hartzell Fan in Aberdeen. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, being with his family and visiting with friends. Never meeting a stranger, Bennie always treated others as his family and would lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 5, 2020 in the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with Bro. George Collins and Bro. Dempsey Roland officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Rest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen.
Survivors include one son, Lynn Callahan (Marie) of Carterville, IL; one daughter, Michelle Roebuck (Donnie) of Aberdeen, MS; one sister, Emma Gilmore of Wren, MS; five grandchildren, Paige Roebuck, Donnie Wayne Roebuck, Josh Roebuck, Rachel Humphries (Mikey), Dustin Roebuck (Shannon); six great grandchildren; host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers, Willie Callahan, and Hamp Callahan; two sisters, Edna Knight and Shirley Callahan.
Pallbearers are Derry Joe Sykes, Chris Sykes, Kenneth Sykes, Nathan Sykes, William Gilmore, and Melvin Luker.
