Aberdeen, MS – Elizabeth Aston Simpson, 31, ascended to Heaven on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. She was the only daughter of Cynthia “Cindy” West Simpson of Plano, TX, and Dr. Charles Lawson Simpson, West Point, MS. She is also survived by her dear Mama Judi who was with her on the day she was born and the day she found comfort in the arms of an Angel. She was also deeply loved by David Botello (Plano, TX) as well as his sons, Christopher (Frisco, TX) and Bryan Botello (Denver, CO).
Aston was a graduate of Mississippi University for Women and held a B.S. in Elementary Education. She loved enriching the minds of children and encouraging their bright futures. Children were drawn to her because of the love and understanding she had for them. Her favorite quote that she lived daily – “Every child deserves a champion: an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists they become the best they can possibly be.” ~ Rita Pierson, Educator.
If you knew her, you also knew her love for animals. All of God’s creatures were loved by her. She went ahead of her pets – Possum, Benji, and Gypsy – and is surely awaiting their arrival one sweet day.
Aston touched so many people and led a spirited life. Her family, friends, students, and colleagues will miss her immensely. She leaves behind not only her mom and dad, but the man of her dreams, Zack Ivy of Shannon, MS, and his two children, who loved her dearly – Jack and Hazel. Among the grieving are Barbara Dexter, special friend to her dad, and a plethora of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and coworkers.
The entire family asks in lieu of flowers to please donate in Aston’s name to Palmer Home for Children in Columbus, MS. She would be so grateful to know that her life had a positive impact on the lives of children who are seeking adoption into a loving family. She would want to leave this type of legacy for future generations.
